Opening of the 2025 Jubilee: The Opening of the Holy Door
The event that will mark the beginning of the 2025 Jubilee is the opening of the Holy Door at St. Peter's Basilica, scheduled for December 24, 2024. This moment will signify the start of the Holy Year, a time of grace and reconciliation for Catholics. The Holy Door, symbolizing the passage towards salvation, will remain open throughout the year, welcoming pilgrims arriving in Rome from all over the world.
On Sunday, December 29, 2024, Pope Francis will open the Holy Door of the Basilica of St. John Lateran. The celebrations will continue with the opening of the Holy Door of the Basilica of St. Mary Major, set for January 1, 2025. Finally, on January 5, 2025, the Holy Door of the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls will be opened, concluding the opening rites of the four papal basilicas, which are central to the Jubilee celebrations.

From June 20 to 22, the Jubilee of Government Leaders will occur, providing an opportunity to reflect on the role of politics in promoting justice and peace.
July-August 2025: Jubilee of Youth
The summer will be dominated by the Jubilee of Youth, which will take place from July 28 to August 3, 2025. Thousands of young people from around the world will gather in Rome to experience days of spirituality, celebration, and fellowship.
