THE 2025 JUBILEE CALENDAR: A YEAR OF SPECIAL EVENTS

The 2025 Jubilee promises to be an extraordinary event that will touch millions of faithful around the world. It is a unique opportunity to celebrate faith, reflect, and participate in moments of great significance. From solemn religious ceremonies to gatherings dedicated to specific social groups, the Jubilee will be a journey of spirituality, reconciliation, and personal growth for everyone.

Opening of the 2025 Jubilee: The Opening of the Holy Door

The event that will mark the beginning of the 2025 Jubilee is the opening of the Holy Door at St. Peter's Basilica, scheduled for December 24, 2024. This moment will signify the start of the Holy Year, a time of grace and reconciliation for Catholics. The Holy Door, symbolizing the passage towards salvation, will remain open throughout the year, welcoming pilgrims arriving in Rome from all over the world.

On Sunday, December 29, 2024, Pope Francis will open the Holy Door of the Basilica of St. John Lateran. The celebrations will continue with the opening of the Holy Door of the Basilica of St. Mary Major, set for January 1, 2025. Finally, on January 5, 2025, the Holy Door of the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls will be opened, concluding the opening rites of the four papal basilicas, which are central to the Jubilee celebrations.

 

January 2025: Jubilee of the World of Communication

January will be dedicated to the Jubilee of the World of Communication, from January 24 to 26, focusing on the crucial role of media and technology in spreading the Christian message. This event will offer communication professionals the opportunity to explore the ethical role of communication in modern society.

 

February 2025: Jubilee of the Armed Forces and Artists

February will feature two important celebrations. On February 8 and 9, the Jubilee of the Armed Forces and Police will take place, providing an occasion to pray for those who ensure the safety and protection of the community. Immediately after, from February 15 to 18, the Jubilee of Artists will be held, paying tribute to the power of art as a tool of spirituality and beauty.

 

March 2025: Jubilee of Volunteering

March 8 and 9, 2025 will be dedicated to the Jubilee of Volunteering, celebrating the work and dedication of those who commit themselves to helping others, a true homage to solidarity and altruism.

 

April 2025: Jubilee of the Sick, the Youth, and Persons with Disabilities

April will be an especially intense month with several significant events. On April 5 and 6, the Jubilee of the Sick and Healthcare Workers will be held, an occasion to pray for those who suffer and for those who dedicate their lives to caring for others. From April 25 to 27, the Jubilee of Adolescents will take place, aimed at the spiritual growth of young people. Immediately following, on April 28 and 29, the Jubilee of Persons with Disabilities will be celebrated, a moment of great inclusion and recognition of the value of every individual.

 

May 2025: Families and Workers at the Center of the Celebrations

May will be dedicated to families and workers. From May 1 to 4, the Jubilee of Workers will take place, followed by the Jubilee of Entrepreneurs on May 4 and 5. These events will offer reflections on the fundamental role of work and enterprise in modern society. The month will conclude with the Jubilee of Families, from May 30 to June 1, featuring the participation of children, grandparents, and the elderly, emphasizing the importance of the family in both the Church and society.

 

June 2025: Sport, the Holy See, and Governments

June will be rich with highly anticipated events. On June 7 and 8, the Jubilee of Movements, Associations, and New Communities will highlight the importance of the laity and new ecclesial realities. On June 9, the Jubilee of the Holy See will take place. On June 14 and 15, sports will take center stage with the Jubilee of Sports, celebrating the values of fairness and commitment. From June 20 to 22, the Jubilee of Government Leaders will occur, providing an opportunity to reflect on the role of politics in promoting justice and peace.

 

July-August 2025: Jubilee of Youth

The summer will be dominated by the Jubilee of Youth, which will take place from July 28 to August 3, 2025. Thousands of young people from around the world will gather in Rome to experience days of spirituality, celebration, and fellowship.

 

September 2025: Jubilee of Justice Workers

On September 20, 2025, the Jubilee of Justice Workers will be celebrated, offering a moment to reflect on the importance of justice and social equity.

 

October 2025: Jubilee of Migrants and Education

In October, two significant events will take place: the Jubilee of Migrants on October 4 and 5, focusing on hospitality and integration, and the Jubilee of the Educational World from October 31 to November 2, dedicated to teachers and students.

 

November and December 2025: Charity and Hope to Conclude the Year

On November 16, 2025, the Jubilee of the Poor will serve as a call to charity and solidarity towards the most needy, highlighting the fundamental value of Christian charity. Finally, the Jubilee will conclude on December 14, 2025, with the Jubilee of Prisoners, a moment of prayer and hope for those in situations of loss of freedom, but also a reminder of redemption and the hope for a better future.
